In this course learners will develop a number sense that includes:

  1. The meaning of different kinds of numbers
  2. The relationship between different kinds of number
  3. The relative size of different numbers
  4. Representation of numbers in different ways
  5. The effect of operating with numbers
  6. The ability to estimate and check solutions

In the senior phase, learners will focus mainly on:

  1. Representation of numbers in a variety of ways and moving flexibly between representations
  2. Recognising and using properties of operations with different number systems
  3. Solving a variety of problems, using an increased range of numbers and the ability to perform multiple operations correctly and fluently.
